cushion on aircraft wing

MANUFACTURING

The working environment within an aircraft wing is often uncomfortable to sit or lie down in due to an awkward internal structure with T sections sticking out meaning there is no flat surface. Many workers can suffer cramps and pains and so can’t stay inside the wing for long periods of time. Presently, to overcome this problem, some workers bring materials to act as a cushion. These cushions have not been safety checked and so may not be chemical/fire resistant and could also drag pieces of metal scrap along the tank.

Whilst working at JNDC I was allocated the task of designing and prototyping a matting system solving the problems mentioned above.
